I’m a surface pattern designer based in the UK by the sea in a lovely village along the Morecambe Bay coastline. With spectacular views across the Bay and a stone’s throw from the stunning Lake District it’s a perfect place to have a studio and be inspired by my surroundings.
I was raised into an artistic family, my father is an artist whose work adorns the family home and my mother is a textiles guru so the combination of the two have instilled a creative element in me from a very young age.
I studied for a BA (hons) in Surface Pattern Design at Huddersfield University. Although always being creative it wasn’t until enrolling on The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design course in 2012 that I decided now was the perfect time to embark on a career in design.
My designs tend to have a hand drawn element as it’s important for me to keep my individual style which is quite quirky, fun and organic. All of my work starts out as a hand drawn sketch which is then scanned and manipulated in Photoshop to add the all important colour and this is where I really put my stamp on it. My use of bold colours brings the designs to life.
