International Women's day 'Girl Power' image featuring powerful women who have changed and are changing our world.

Here's some information about each woman featured in this poster: (from top to bottom, left to right)

Mary Seacole: was a British-Jamaican nurse, healer and businesswoman who set up the "British Hotel" behind the lines during the Crimean War.

Helen Blackburn: established the Women's Employment Defence League in 1891, to defend women's working rights against restrictive employment legislation.

Harriet Tubman: was an American abolitionist and political activist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people.

Frida Khalo: was the embodiment of a true icon of feminism. She opposed the inflexibility of Mexican society, which was resistant to the emancipation of women.

Sophia Duleep Singh: is best known as a suffragette and campaigner for women's rights. She used her fame, position to fight for gender equality in the early 20th century.

Sylvia Pankhurst: was a political activist and campaigner for women's rights, who is remembered chiefly for her use of militant tactics in the fight for women's right to vote.

Ida B. Wells: was a journalist, educator, and early leader in the civil rights movement. She was one of the founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Rosa Parks: was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott.

Maya Angelo: was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She helped raise the resources that allowed MLK and others to organize historic challenges to the Jim Crow brutality.

Claudia Jones: was a Trinidad and Tobago-born journalist and activist. As a child, she migrated with her family to the US, where she became a Communist political activist, feminist and black nationalist.

Yuri Kachiyama: was an American civil rights activist. she advocated for many causes, including black separatism, the anti-war movement, reparations for Japanese-American internees.

Marsh P. Johnson: was an American gay liberation activist. Known as an outspoken advocate for gay rights, Johnson was one of the prominent figures in the Stonewall uprising of 1969. And was a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front and co-founded the radical activist group Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries. She was murdered.

Shirley Chisholm: was an American politician, educator, and author. In 1968, she became the first black woman elected to the United States Congress.

Ruther Bader Ginsberg: began teaching as a Professor and she became involved in a series of Supreme Court cases relating to gender equality which began her journey to becoming a Supreme Court Justice.

Jo Cox: was a passionate campaigner, activist and humanitarian and was working on a report on anti-Muslim attacks before she was murdered due to her beliefs.

Michelle Obama: was the first African-American First Lady and serves as a role model for women and worked as an advocate for poverty awareness, education, nutrition.

Angela Davis: was an American black activist who gained an international reputation during her imprisonment and trial on conspiracy charges in 1970–72. And later became an American political activist, philosopher, academic and author.

Amika George: is a British activist who campaigns against period poverty in the United Kingdom.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: is the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress and advocates a progressive platform that includes Medicare for All, tuition-free public college, a federal jobs guarantee, a Green New Deal, and abolishing the U.S. ICE.

Greta Thunberg: is a Swedish environmental activist who is internationally known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action against climate change.

Malala Yousafzai: spoke out publicly on behalf of girls and their rights to education - this made her a target and was shot in the head by the Taliban. She is now a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate.
